When it comes to electric guitars each body style is designed to give a sound that is different from the other body styles. It started with the Telecaster guitar in 1949. This was the first electric guitar that was designed to be cut out using a bandsaw and router rather than hand carved like others. It also was the first guitar to have a neck that was bolted on rather than glued. It started the tradition of using one piece of maple for the neck, finger-board, and head stock, others incorporated a separate wood to be used for the finger-board. The two pick-ups employed by the telecaster are designed to give you many different sounds depending on how you select them them.
