Take The Nest Step

Joe Miranda October 5, 2011

When you first started playing your guitar made by Stadium Guitars you probably did it with the intention of just learning for yourself. Learning how to play electric guitars and bass guitars either by taking lessons one on one, or by virtue of the Internet can only take you so far. Don’t get me wrong learning the basics is definitely the way to go but their is more to learn.

When you start jamming with your friends the whole world of music will open up for you, I know it did for me. Not only did we get to share each others electric guitars and bass guitars to see how they played, but more importantly we got to share each others music knowledge. If you decide to take it to the next step after you have been playing awhile you will get a rush like you have never experienced before.

When we were ready we took our guitar packages and started playing gigs. Being on stage with everyone listening just to you is an experience everyone should get to know. After doing that you can understand the psyche of professional bands.

The Price Of Guitars

Joe Miranda October 2, 2011

You must admit today’s economy stinks, with the dollar shrinking the way it is there is not much left over for some of the pleasures in life. I guess what really irks me is when I see retail stores as well as on line stores with their sales adds boasting 20% to 50% savings on certain items. My take on that is, if you can afford to mark something down 50% than your mark-up was too much initially.

When your in the market for electric guitars and bass guitars the same thing holds true. Take your time and look around for the best value. Don’t be fooled if you do see the same electric guitar priced a little higher as you often see when you look at electric guitar packages. The reason for this is their are items included in those guitar packages that make it seem higher but when you price everything out it winds up being cheaper.

The Best Guitar Player

Joe Miranda September 26, 2011

Who is The best guitarist around today? My answer to that is that depends on the kind of music that you are into. I don’t mean to be so vague about it but when you see peoples responses some agree and some go in the direction of the music they like. The guitar packages that each use doesn’t even come into play as just like the answers they vary greatly.

Angus Young of AC/DC is one name that seems to come up often, and why not. His electric guitar solos have kept our interest for more than thirty years, not to mention his patented duck walk. For my money you can’t beat Jeff Beck, and Eric Clapton. They have been leaders when it comes to the art of playing guitar. I would also include Lindsey Buckingham in my list, with his finger-picking style of play that makes him one of the best.

The granddaddy of them all for me is Mark Knopfler. His achievements in music speak for them selves. He has played guitar with other artists such as Eric Clapton, and Chet Atkins (another one of my all time favorite guitar players). He has several honorary doctorates, and is 27th on the list of greatest guitarists of all time. He owns 70 guitars and is known to use several electric guitar packages to change his sound for each song.

Instrumental Rock

Joe Miranda September 24, 2011

The 1950′s and 1960′s was an exciting time for rock and roll if you were a fan of electric guitar and bass guitars like I was. There were all kinds of band configurations after Buddy Holly led the way with one electric guitar, a double bass, and a drummer. Most of the bands that followed consisted of two electric guitars, one bass guitar, and a drummer, and if the band didn’t provide their own vocals from their guitarists they had an extra person who just provided vocals.

There were some bands in those early days that didn’t rely on vocals at all, they were strictly instrumental. The Fireballs pretty much got things started and paved way for countless other bands like Booker T and the MGs, The Shadows, and my personal favorite The Ventures. The guitar packages for these bands was pretty simple utilizing two electric guitars, a bass guitar, and a drummer, and a few like Booker T using keyboards.

There was no flashy front-man for any of these bands so the music had to be catchy enough to get your attention. The Ventures had songs like “Walk Don’t Run and Hawaii Five-O, yes that’s right they did the theme song from the original TV show.  If you have never heard any of these songs try one out and I’m sure you will be hooked.

The Glory Days

Joe Miranda September 22, 2011

Rock and roll was just getting started in the late 1950′s thanks to Buddy Holly and the Crickets. After Buddy’s death rock kind of stalled out for a while until The Beatles picked up the gauntlet in the early 1960′s. They took Buddy’s idea on an electric guitar, upright bass and drummer and expanded on it. Their guitar packages consisted of two electric guitars and replaced the upright bass with a bass guitar, added vocal harmonies of the Everly Brothers and the rest is history.

Yes if you are a fan on listening to and playing electric guitars and bass guitars as I am, than I think you will agree that for rock an roll the time from the 1960′s through the 1980′s was the best. With bands like Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones, The Who, Pink Floyd whose music was so extraordinary they were described as being put on earth from another planet, AC/DC, Queen, and Def Leppard just to name a few how could any other era beat that. There were so many different sounds to choose from, if you didn’t care the style of one there was alwas another.

Unlike the music of today each band had its own original sound. Some of these bands are still touring today, like AC/DC. They continues to be a top money maker every year.

Good Vibrations

Joe Miranda September 11, 2011

Guitar packages like jazz guitar packages are a good thing for anyone thing to have or add to their collection of electric guitars. Similar to acoustic guitars that make use of a sound hole that gives off vibrations when you play it, the jazz guitar has two “f” holes that on it’s hollow body structure that do the same thing.

The sound is not that familiar twang you get from solid body electric guitars, but rather a soft amplified one that is unlike the solid body. Now I’m not saying to throw away your electric guitars in favor of jazz guitars, I’m saying there is room for both of them.

What Would Buddy Think

Joe Miranda August 14, 2011

Buddy Holly started what we know today as rock and roll with an electric guitar and a sound in his head. He made kids want to get up and dance to this new music with a different beat.

After stalling out a bit after Buddy’s untimely death, The Beatles came along and expanded upon Buddy’s sound, mixing electric guitars with bass guitars. Their magical guitar packages transformed rock and roll forever. Their creativity was so great it made people want to play electric guitars also. One could say they were the juggernaut that started kids everywhere on the road to owning their own guitars and starting their own bands.

Getting Older

Joe Miranda August 9, 2011

Getting older is something all of us do. As you get older some of your motor skills diminish and you start to take on aches and pains.

One observation of mine is with your vocal skills, talking about people who are just singers. Most of them don’t sound quite the same as they did when they were younger. They don’t seem to have the range they use to, that’s where electric guitar packages and bass guitar packages come in.

When you play guitar you can play it at any age, and unlike singing the more you play the better you sound. Thanks to incorporating cheap electric guitars in these guitar packages they are affordable and available to you at any age.

Owning Guitar Packages

Joe Miranda July 28, 2011

Listening to music is a great thing, owning guitar packages that allow you to play that music is even better. Electric guitars, bass guitars, and even acoustic guitars all contribute to the sound you hear on your favorite song.

I guess what really amazes me is the fact that there are people who don’t play guitar, or any other instrument, who can’t identify one guitar sound from another. There are some who can’t identify a bass guitar from an electric guitar, the only thing they know is they either like the song, or hate it.

As Good As The Pros

Joe Miranda July 18, 2011

In my days of playing bass guitar with various bands I have played with and come across quite a few bands. There were some that were average and some that when they covered a well known song, they sounded as good as the original artists that recorded it.

Many of these bands achieved such a good sound by having some pretty impressive electric guitar packages and bass guitar packages, and there were a few who got a great sound with cheap electric guitars. The bands that had great equipment were able to cover up the fact that they were just OK musicians, on the other hand the bands that had a great sound with guitar packages using cheap electric guitars were exceptional musicians.
