Thanks to video games like Guitar Hero playing electric guitars has remained one the great instruments to play. Playing the electric guitar became the thing to do back in the early 60’s when a little known band called The Beatles brought a sound to rock and roll that revived what the late Buddy Holly tried to do.

While playing Guitar Hero with it’s electric guitar, and bass guitar copies that emulate their original guitars, there’s nothing like playing the real thing. Playing guitar is an accomplishment that only a few people know, and many people are in awe of. It is something you can take with you through your lifetime, no matter what your skill level is.

So for all you Guitar Hero gurus I say put down those fake guitars and pick up a real electric guitar, you will be glad you did.

Partial To The Bass

Joe Miranda July 14, 2010

I have played bass guitar more than 40 years and have found it to be one of the more creative instruments. I have played rhythm guitar on stage as well as tenor saxophone and for me bass guitars are the way to go.

Now don’t get me wrong I’m not saying bass guitar is the hardest instrument to play, I’m just saying it is the most creative. Playing rhythm guitar you are pretty much locked into playing a song straight on with no variations, not so with bass, while you can play the bass guitar line the way it is written, with a little creativity you can come up with your own bass line that will make that song yours.

It Takes Two

Joe Miranda July 10, 2010

Have you been playing bass guitar or electric guitar for sometime now on your own? When you practice do you practice songs along with your normal finger exercises? Are you fairly proficient at the songs you play? Do you get bored playing guitar by yourself?

Having you ever thought of playing in a band? When you think about it, all it takes to start a band is two people with their own electric guitar packagesamd a desire to make music. Don’t worry if you play a few wrong notes, the average person that listens to music without playing guitar won’t notice the difference.

If you’re not sure of what kind of music you can play just look around, Buddy Holly started the graze with just three pieces, an electric guitar, a stand up bass, and a drummer. If Buddy Holly is to old for you how about Rush, Alex Lifeson, outstanding bass guitar player Geddy Lee, and Neil Peart do alright for just three pieces.

The Gift Of Acoustics

Joe Miranda July 9, 2010

Do you know anybody who plays electric guitar and has a special occasion coming up? How would you like to really surprise them with a very special gift?

Acoustic guitar packages are often overlooked by anyone playing electric guitar. The first choice for someone is to purchase an electric guitar, mainly because their mostly used by rockers on stage. Purchasing an acoustic guitar is something they don’t think about until later in their musical career.

As a gift an acoustic guitar package it will not only give them another guitar amplifier that can be used as a pre-amp along with their original guitar amp, it will also give them an introduction into the world of acoustic guitars and the great sound that can be achieved from them.

Practice Makes Perfect?

Joe Miranda July 7, 2010

Purchasing the best electric guitar packageswill keep your interest going but it doesn’t guarantee that you will be one of the best electric guitar players around. Practicing everyday, playing scales, practicing chords, playing songs will definitely make you a much better guitar player, but not necessarily the best.

I don’t know what ITis but all I know is that I don’t have it. I play bass guitar, I have played gigs and I guess my sound is OK, but it is not the best. Playing for the better part of forty years has made me comfortable playing but I will never be the best. Many of you reading this will find the same is true of you, whether it’s electric guitars, acoustic guitars, or bass guitars all you can hope for is to be the best that you can be.

All Guitarists Have One

Joe Miranda July 6, 2010

Whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or professional everybody has a cheap electric guitar in their collection.  Cheap electric guitars are what got us started in the first place.

When you watch the professionals play all you see is the high end, high tech (depending on who you are watching), but if you look to their roots you will find an electric guitar that perhaps you wouldn’t even want to play it’s that cheap looking, but that’s what they got started with. It makes me laugh sometimes when I read comments on electric guitars because some guys just don’t get it, if it’s not made by one of the top brand manufacturers then it’s just no good. I’ve read them bash an electric guitar manufacturers that they never heard of.

I guess the point I’m trying to get across is if you like it buy it, you can always upgrade later.

What’s In A Name

Joe Miranda July 5, 2010

Have you ever heard of New York Pro guitars? Have you ever hear of Stadium Guitars? Don’t think there is something wrong with you if you didn’t, lots of people don’t know who they are.

Of course everyone knows the top brand electric guitar manufacturers today, but there are hundreds of what I like to call knock-off brands on the market today. If you have thousands to pluck down on one of the top of the line models from the top brands that’s great but if you don’t and you are looking to purchase one of their lesser guitars you are buying a knock-off guitar with their name on it and paying a lot more than it is worth.

Stadium guitars are the Cadillac’sthat are produced by the same people who make New York Pro Guitars. The finishes on these guitars will astound you, and if you get one with a maple neck you will find it lacquered from the body all the way to the neck and head stock just like the top name brands, and for quite a bit less. There have even been comments made on line to the effect of gutting this and retrofitting it with pick-ups, volume and tone controls from the top brands that will give you a high end electric guitar at a great price.

Choices

Joe Miranda July 4, 2010

Learning how to play a musical instrument especially electric guitars can be a very rewarding experience. Besides the life long knowledge of playing this great instrument, there also is the added excitement when it comes to buying an electric guitar.

In my day the choices that were out there were pretty slim. There were a few colors to choose from, along with a few body styles. Electric guitar packages that can be found today on the internet were not available back then. Whatever the color or style you can find an electric guitar package to fit the bill. Depending upon how much you would like to spend, you can find cheap electric guitar packages for the person just starting out with their musical career, or the higher end ones are great for that established musician who wants to round out their collection of guitars.

Yes the selection is vast when it comes to electric guitar packages and the experience is exciting.

I hope you like the title for this blog because I think it is quite funny too. All to often I either hear it or read it that just because some electric guitars aren’t made by Fender or Gibson they are considered cheap electric guitars and are no good.

Would you like to know what makes them cheap electric guitars, the price. That’s right I said the price. First of all, not everybody has thousands of dollars to spend on a high end electric guitar, second of all, have you checked out the quality of the knock-off brands guitars, they just might surprise you. These so called cheap electric guitars range in price and the higher price you are willing to spend will get you an electric guitar with a finish that’s just as good as those top brands, in fact they are so good some people take this cheaper guitar and fit if with pick-ups, and volume controls of a Fender, for just a fraction of what it would cost you coould wind up with a cheap electric guitar with that sounds like you paid thousands.

Well Rounded Musician

Joe Miranda June 30, 2010

For most young musicians electric guitars are the instrument of choice. The reason for this is quite simple, it’s very easy to associate with the guitarist from their favorite band who is playing an electric guitar.

This by itself is OK but to really be well rounded acoustic guitars should find their way into your collection of guitars. Acoustic guitars sound different and play different than electric guitars which is why you should consider picking one up along your musical career.

Did you know electric guitar packages are not the only way to get value when looking for a guitar, acoustic guitar packages are also available with the same features and the costs are about the same.
