When I started playing bass guitar in the mid 1960′s and it was time to purchase my first bass guitar there wasn’t much of a choice. You either went into Manhattan to Manny’s Music Store and bought a big name bass or electric guitar that would have cost more than what I wanted to spend at the time, or go to my local music store and purchase the only cheap bass guitar they had in the store.

There wasn’t much of a selection back then for cheap bass guitars or cheap electric guitars. In today’s market the selection for high price and cheap electric guitars is better than ever, and the quality is exceptional also. There has never been a better time to purchase a cheap electric guitar that also comes in your favorite electric guitar packages.

Don’t Knock It Until You Have Tried It

Joe Miranda December 13, 2011

Have you ever noticed one of your favorite artists or bands constantly changing electric guitars and bass guitars on stage? Have you ever thought that they were just showing off?

The answer is no they are not. Acoustic guitars sound different than solid body electric guitars, just as different style solid body electric guitars sound different from each other. Each electric guitar is designed to produce a specific sound, making different from the rest. That is why they change so guitar packages so frequently, because each song requires a specific sound.

Thanks to cheap electric guitars and cheap bass guitars you can experience the same difference in sound at a fraction of the cost. You can start with one style electric guitar and build your collection as you go along.

Things That Are Easily Overlooked

Joe Miranda November 20, 2011

If you play electric guitars, or bass guitars, or even acoustic guitars and you’re like me you dread the time when you have to change a string. Depending on the last time that you changed your guitar strings they all might need changing.

Expensive electric guitars as well as cheap electric guitars and cheap bass guitars all share the same weaknesses, they all need maintenance from time to time. What better time to give your guitar an overhaul than when you need to change the strings.

First thing is to check the neck with a straight edge to see if the truss rod needs adjusting. After you have done this and replaced the strings you might want to check your guitar for intonation. You check for this by tuning the open string then checking to see if the same note is present at the 12th fret, if they are not you need to loosen the string and raise or lower the bridge depending upon which way it is out then tune your string again. Checking all these things will keep your electric guitar in  perfect working order, and who knows it might even improve your sound.

What Does It Take

Joe Miranda November 14, 2011

Do you play electric guitar? Have you ever given any thought to what it takes to start a band? The answer is really quite simple.

The biggest thing that you need is a deep love for music, that mixed with cheap electric guitars and cheap bass guitars are all you need. If you want to go a little bit deeper you really need electric guitar packages and bass guitar packages, someone playing drums, and someone on vocals. When I say vocals all you need is someone who can carry a tune, and don’t think it has to be someone who just sings, it can be one of the guitarists in your band. If your fortunate enough to have more than one person who can sing and play you can have a great back-up sound as well.

Let the public tell you if you are good enough, and believe me they will. Don’t get me wrong most people don’t care if you play every note right, they don’t care if you’re playing on cheap electric guitars, nobody really notices. The only thing they care about is if the music sounds good.

It’s Never The Same

Joe Miranda November 8, 2011

Cheap electric guitars and cheap bass guitars are where everyone starts out at one time or another. It’s nice to try and emulate your favorite rock stars by playing the same style electric guitar as they play, and play the same way that they play.

Would you be surprised if I tell you that they don’t play a song the same way twice. Sure they come close but playing on stage something is always different. There are intangibles that make them play different each time, and there changes are not even visible to the public.  So remember when you are practicing with your electric guitar made by New York Pro Guitars that you don’t have to be letter perfect when you are playing a song.

It Takes All Kinds

Joe Miranda November 3, 2011

If you were a professional you would have many different guitar packages to cover the many different songs and sounds that you have. Of course bass guitar players have their bass guitar packages and guitar players have their electric guitar packages and quite possibly an acoustic guitar package.

The reason for the many guitar packages is as I stated before you need certain packages for a particular type of sound. The idea of having different sounds isn’t only available to the pros, you too can achieve this via cheap electric guitars and cheap bass guitars. They are an affordable solution to those of us who are monetarily challenged, and who isn’t in these economic times.

It’s What You Are Used To

Joe Miranda October 24, 2011

I have played bass guitar for over 40 years. I have played expensive bass guitars and I have played cheap bass guitars. I have played both at practice and on stage and I can honestly say playing any kind of guitar is a matter of what you are use to, as far as the sound goes people can’t tell the difference.

Bass guitar packages are an affordable way to increase your bass guitar collection along with giving you a different sound, providing you obtain a different style bass guitar than you already have. The same is true for different amplifiers, here again bass guitar packages can furnish you with different bass amplifiers. As I said I have found success with both expensive and cheap instruments, It’s all a matter of what you are used to.

There are times when practicing and sometimes even jamming with friends becomes stale, I’m sure you know what I mean, it has happened to all of us, even the pros. Cheap bass guitars and cheap bass guitars are a great way to freshen up your enthusiasm for music. They are affordable and there are copies of all the expensive models, without the cost of course.

When you pick up an electric or bass guitar that is different than what you are use to playing the newness gets your attention of course but there is also the discovery of the new sounds that can be achieved with this guitar.

Consumed By The Bass

Joe Miranda October 9, 2011

I can’t explain it but all my life I tend to focus more on bass guitars than any other instrument. Yes in the 1960′s I was able to hear through the terrific electric guitars playing exceptional solo’s, along with moving rhythms and single out the bass line.

I have managed to secure many bass guitar packages through the years. Some have cheap bass guitars and some expensive ones. I have played and owned quite a few bass guitars, including a j-bass, a p-bass, and a violin bass, I also own a hollow body bass guitar that looks like the Gibson E355 hollow body guitar.

Although I don’t play gigs anymore I still own them all and play them all. Each style adds something else to your sound. If there is anything you get out of this blog it’s don’t underestimate cheap electric guitars. It’s a way to own several different types of guitars without breaking the bank.
