Greatest Guitarist In History
Whenever a discussion comes up about the greatest electric guitar player the one name that either at the top or close to the top is Jimi Hendrix. Although he died on September 18, 1970, his influence is felt from the musicians of that era right through to the guitar industry today.
Already a successful rock star in Europe, his performance in the Montery Pop Festival in 1967 launched his career towards being a super star in the United States. He enjoyed playing his right handed Fender Stratocaster electric guitar through his guitar amplifier with the volume and treble turned up enough to be able to induce feedback from the amp. He was a pioneer a this technique that is still practiced to this day.
His use of the wah-wah pedal also brought renewed interest of it to other guitarist. Along with being inducted in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the Hall of Fame in the UK, he is also remembered with a square on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame. The Rolling Stone 100 greatest guitarists of all time Jimi Hendrix is listed as number 1.
