Brian Wilson Answers Back

Joe Miranda June 2, 2010

The Beatles just dazzled us in 1965 with one of the greatest albums of all time. The song “Girl” featured a fuzz pedal on the bass guitar, the custom electric guitar sounds were made to sound french on some songs. they even had pianos’ made up to sound like harpsichords. To date it was the most creative album ever.

Brian Wilson after hearing Rubber Soul was so inspired he created in 1966  what most would say is “The Greatest Album of All Time” in “Pet Sounds”. He completely got away from songs about fast cars, beaches, and girls, instead the album was filled with sophisticated and layered vocal harmonies. The songs also featured sound effects by objects non usually associated with music, like bicycle bells, dog whistles, and buzzing organs.

The Beatles have given credit to this album as being the catalyst for their SGT. Pepper album.
