Skiffle was a popular music brought to the British in the 50′s by Lonnie Donegan. It is a popular music composed of jazz, blues, folk and country music. It is the roots of John Lennon and The Beatles as well as other artists from the British invasion.
such as Richie Blackmore who brought that sensational electric guitar riff of “Smoke On The Water” by Deep Purple, to Mick Jagger the frontman for the Rolling Stones, to Jimmy Page who went from playing guitar with The Yardbirds as well with Led Zeppelin.
The basic truth is skiffle music started in the United States was all but abandoned only to resurface in the UK. The British took the art of playing guitar and brought it back to the US in a little thing called the British invasion.
