What kind of guitar do you prefer, is it the mellow finger-picking style that comes from playing acoustic guitars, or is it the hard fast tempo of electric guitars playing hard rock. Whatever your style do you find practicing can become somewhat stale at times?
There are some things that I like to do playing bass guitar that help spice up my practicing. I like to single out a particular bass guitar player and try to emulate their style of playing. One thing I keep in mind when doing this is while copying their style I don’t always play every note that they do, by this I mean when you listen to a song by this artist they don’t always play the same thing the same way all the time so there is no reason that you can’t interject you own style when practicing.
Nothing says you can’t take a fast song and slow it down with your acoustic, and for electrics try speeding up or changing the tempo on a song that is slow and easy. Try and be creative, that’s what the pro do.
