Learning to play the bass guitar in the 1960′s has its advantages as well as disadvantages. There were no such thing as tabs back then, when you wanted to learn a song you either purchased the sheet music or listen and play along with the song on a record until your ears started to bleed.
When it came to understanding how to adjust a guitar, it was too costly to go to a music store, so you relied on guys in the neighborhood that played electric guitar to pass along what ever knowledge they had, and you would share the knowledge you had.
Todays’ musicians are very lucky to have a thing called the Internet. Learning a song is as easy as finding the tabs for it. Overall knowledge about adjustments on the electric guitar or acoustic guitar (there is a difference), can be found on line, everything from adjusting the truss rods, bridges, and a little thing called intonation.
