You know your getting old when it takes several articles to write about one event, and as George Carlin once said its OK because I’m getting old. I am now 57 years old and maybe I’m being too picky but the music today at least for me leaves a lot to be desired.
On New Years Eve Dec 31st 1999 I was 47 years old and I could find bands like Styx performing at Disney World in Florida. Styx along with Dennis De Young on vocals and keyboards, Tommy Shaw on guitar, keyboards and talk-box, and James J.Y. Young vocals and guitar rocked the show with songs like “Come Sail Away” and “Show Me The Way”. The familiar electric guitar rock sound that produce is one that I can identify with.
This year on New Years Eve I couldn’t even tell you who was performing, as I didn’t recognize anyone. This started me wondering about the evolution of music. It has been close to fifty years since the British Evasion of the 1960′s and my observations are that of my fathers, what will it be like in another forty or fifty years my daughters are my age what will the music be like at that time?
