“Pet Sounds” written by Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys was released in 1966. It was embraced by many of the British bands including The Beatles, and has been said to be a major influence on the music of that time.
It has been said that it influenced the eighth Beatles album “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”. This album did not disappoint, staying 15 weeks on the top of the billboard charts, it had more ground-breaking and innovative sounds that only The Beatles could have given us.
This album brought us a thing called direct input, simply put this is when you plug in an electric guitar directly into a recording consoles amplifying circuit. It was really effective on the bass guitar as it produced a sound that couldn’t be achieved by normal methods. Custom bass guitar packages today emulate the sound that was given to us in 1967.
