Sound Check

Joe Miranda February 4, 2011

After your purchase of an electric guitar package you practiced and learned how to play your electric guitar very well, in fact so well that you either joined a band or started your own band. A lot people think all you have to do is find other people with electric guitar packages and bass guitar packages plug in and start playing. To some extent that is true with one exception, doing a sound check.

Your band can consist of some of the finest guitar players you know but if everyone is playing so loud that it drowns out the other members in the band you just won’t have a good sound. Once you learn how to adjust our guitar amplifiers for you optimal sound people will start to take notice. The blending of the sound between the electric guitars both lead and rhythm and to the bass guitar is what will define your sound and make people start to take notice.

No Peers

Joe Miranda January 14, 2011

Since the 1960′s The Beatles have constantly amazed us, they were the leaders of the rock and roll movement that still goes on today. Their combination of harmonies mixed in with some terrific bass guitar riffs, and ground breaking lead guitar solo’s are what made them industry giants.

They sold us on the fact that we can put a few electric guitar packages together and form our own bands. What gets me is that when I look at individual artists and bands today they act as if they are giving us something new and fresh. The artists of today need to realize they did not invent rock, they just are the beneficiaries of The Beatles and the other bands of the sixties.

If

Joe Miranda January 12, 2011

I’m sure your all familiar with the phrase “If the dog didn’t stop to take a dump he would have caught the rabbit, well this blog has to do with the same thing, only with electric guitars.

Most say that Jimi Hendrix is the greatest guitarist ever. Jimi himself has been quoted as saying about another guy who plays electric guitar, Terry Kath that he’s so good, he can do things on the guitar that I can’t, so then why if Jimi is considered the best, and he considers Terry better than him, why don’t you ever hear about Terry.

Here’s another one, if Kiss being the electric guitar package mega group that they are, they are good enough to have outsold almost every other band in history, why then if they are good enough for the general public but not good enough to get in, or even to mentioned for the rock and roll hall of fame.

The Right Tool

Joe Miranda January 8, 2011

Did you ever hear the term the right tool for the right job, well it’s the same for guitars, and electric guitar packages. When you think about it the right guitar kind of sets the mood for the song.

You wouldn’t think of using an electric guitar like the Nightcrawler on a song that needs the soft sound of an acoustic guitar, and likewise you wouldn’t use an acoustic guitar on let’s say a hard rock song. The right guitar package comes to play depending upon what kind of playing you do. If are a stay at home rocker and just enjoy playing guitar on your own then an electric guitar package with a 1ow amplifier is just fine. If you play occasional gigs like weddings and small halls you need to step up to a 20w guitar amplifier or higher. If you play gigs like local bars and big halls then you want to step up to an 80w amplifier like the Danville 80w guitar amplifier.

It’s Just Plain Fun To Play

Joe Miranda December 7, 2010

Playing an electric guitar of bass guitar whether it be professionally or just for your own benefit is a very rewarding experience. However, there are times where you find that you play the same things over and over, resulting in sheer boredom.

It’s not exactly a magic formula but what I like to do when the playing gets monotonous is put on a little Skynyrd. Yes that’s right Lynyrd Skynyrd. I find that not only do their songs offer a great bass line, there is also something for electric guitars, utilizing great chord rhythms as well as of course terrific guitar solos.

The next time you’re having trouble with the playing blues try picking up your electric guitar package or bass guitar package (if you’re a bass player like me), and start playing along with Skynyrd because it’s just plain fun to play.

It’s A Matter Of Taste

Joe Miranda November 23, 2010

When you are listening to a band, to you it doesn’t matter how long it took a particular guitarist to come up with an electric guitar package that delivers the sound that they are looking for. Many members in a band travel with a few electric guitar packages, with each one giving them a different sound.

If you are someone who just likes to listen this is of no interest to you, however if you play an electric guitar this should interest you. Although you and I have to achieve our sound using cheap electric guitars along with different guitar amplifiers the theory is exactly the same. No two style electric guitars sound alike and therefore wive you a different sound.

We Started To Listen

Joe Miranda November 17, 2010

Music at one time was for dancing, whether it was a dance band or any of the bands of the 1950′s. Those bands brought us that great doo wop sound that made you want to get up and dance.

The 1960′s brought us the British invasion led by The Beatles. They showed us what a basic rock and roll band is made of, three guitars of which two played electric guitars and one played bass guitar, and one drummer. This  guitar package was the recipe copied by many other bands and soon guitar packages were being put together that would present them in many other band names to come. But the Beatles were something special, when they played people weren’t dancing anymore. Through the screaming of the audiences people started to actually listen to the music that was being played, the music that revolutionized how we look at electric guitars, bass guitars, acoustic guitars and the many other instruments that were being played. The Beatles single-handed made the whole industry of guitars explode. Emerging were the knock-off guitar manufacturers making cheap electric guitars that would bring the possibility of you and I being rock stars a reality.

The Choices We Make

Joe Miranda November 10, 2010

Do you ever think about some of the choices you have made in your life after you have made them? Why is it that you liked one make, color and model vehicle over another. Years after do you ever think about the choice you have made?

Guitars are the same thing, when you first started thinking about bass guitars, electric guitars, or acoustic guitars you searched for just the right bass guitar package that was right for you. The electric guitar package was just right for your budget. Months after your decision you don’t even think about the fact that included in that guitar package was a cheap electric guitar and not some high priced electric guitar, in fact you don’t think about it at all, you just pick up that guitar and start playing because it has become a part of you. As with many other things in life the things that we surround ourselves with make us feel comfortable.

They’re All Around Us

Joe Miranda October 26, 2010

You may not realize it but every time you listen to your favorite band, or watch a band play you are looking at electric guitar packages, and bass guitar packages. That’s right electric guitar packages are all around us.

Especially when you get to a professional band, it them quite some time to match just the right electric guitar with the right guitar amplifier. For them this takes thousands of dollars to achieve. At our level we don’t have mega bucks to spend, but we can find an electric guitar package with the electric guitar that we are looking for and it won’t break the bank.

Playing Slow To Play Fast

Joe Miranda October 24, 2010

So you’ve picked up that electric guitar package that you had been wanting for a very long time, and you have been practicing everyday just like you should be. Up to now everything that you have tried to play on your electric guitar is slow to moderate paced, and you would like to play a song that has a great guitar solo but is also very quick paced. You have tried to play it but you are having trouble and don’t know how to achieve at it.

First thing is don’t get frustrated, everyone playing electric guitars to bass guitars has had the same trouble. One thing that I like to do is play the song super slow, and over and over until I can play it in my sleep. After you have played that guitar solo so many times super slow until your fingers automatically play the notes without even thinking about them, try playing the song super fast. After you have played the song super fast, (don’t worry about the mistakes), play the song at its’ normal speed. When you go from one speed to the other it seems to help. Reputition is the key to learning any song whether it be for electric guitars or bass guitars.
