That Crucial Element

Joe Miranda September 3, 2010

In most of the great bands from the 1960’s through the 1980’s their has always been  that crucial element that made them great.  Some bands were lucky enough to have more than enough of those elements.

Take Queen for an example had John Deacon playing bass guitar who was more than competent when it came to carrying a song while Brian May showed us what an outstanding electric guitar solo can do for a song, and then there’s Freddie Mercury. Freddie was in my opinion the greatest front-man that has ever graced the stage.

How about Fleetwood Mac and their all star cast. They had three outstanding vocalists in Christine McVie, Stevie Nicks, and Lindsey Buckingham. With Christine providing the writing for many of their most popular songs, along with playing keyboards in my opinion she was the catalyst for the band. Of course they had an outstanding drummer in Mick Fleetwood, along with John McVie who provided the driving bass guitar, and Lindsey Buckingham playing electric guitar. What attracted me to the style of Lindsey is that he plays an electric guitar with the finger-picking style of an acoustic guitar.

Food For Thought

Joe Miranda August 29, 2010

Are you the kind of person who decided to play an electric guitar because you were influenced by your favorite rock band? If this is you your not alone, there are many people who did the same thing you did.

What would it take to make you want to try and play an acoustic guitar? How about if you heard Lynyrd Skynyrd playing “Saturday Night Special”, or “Sweet Home Alabama” acoustically, would that do it. Well turn on your radio this Sunday for the “Acoustic Storm” and you will. Each week they feature your favorite songs done not with electric guitars but with acoustic guitars.

I’m not saying to give up your electric guitar, I’ just saying that there is room for both.

Don’t Mess With A Winner

Whether you play an electric guitar, bass guitar, or acoustic guitar, or perhaps you don’t play guitar at all, the elegant look and finish of these fine instruments just kind of draws you in like a magnet. Guitar bodies come in all styles and colors and unlike automobiles that change body styles every year they have stuck with several shapes that are tried and proven to be successful since the 1950’s.

Telecaster, Stratocaster, LP, SG, and Jazz style guitars have kept their shape and appeal for many years, being played by professionals to the beginners their popularity continues to grow. Guitars can be found in many wild shapes from machine guns to stars, but the four mentioned above have been the staples and will continue to be.

You can purchase these guitars alone or in electric guitar packages, bass guitar packages or acoustic guitar packages.

Joe Miranda August 21, 2010

If you are in the market for a new electric guitar there are some incredible imitations of the models made famous by their originators. I’m talking about New York Pro guitars and Stadium guitars.

You can purchase one of these electric guitars is the style and color of your choosing individually or in electric guitar packages with the same choices. When you do what you will find is that you purchased a whole lot for your money. You will find the finish compares with an electric guitar that costs thousands, and the action isn’t that bad either. Don’t feel left out if your bass guitar or acoustic guitar, you will also find these great guitars individually or in bass guitar packages, and acoustic guitar packages. If you know anything about value you’ll know that the guitar packages made by New York Pro guitars and Stadium guitars is the way to go.

Electric guitar packages are a great idea because like the title says, it’s in there. It doesn’t matter if you are just starting out, or a seasoned veteran playing an electric guitar what you get with an electric guitar package is everything you need.

Oh by the way if your preference is bass guitar or acoustic guitar don’t feel left out, there are bass guitar packages as well as acoustic guitar packages. Do you want to play guitar, it’s in there. Do want an guitar or bass amplifier, it’s in there, how about a digital tuner, gig bag, and a guitar stand, they are in there too. Everyone Should Have One

Joe Miranda August 11, 2010

In the forty some odd years I have been listening to, and playing music things haven’t changed a whole lot. When your young you tend to idolize rock stars and automatically see them playing an electric guitar which is why electric guitars ate the best sellers.

Acoustic guitarsfor this reason have taken a back seat to the electrics. It took me a long time to understand this and now I’m trying to educate the younger guitar players as to the perks of playing an acoustic guitar.

Without the help of electronics you can actually hear what your playing sounds like. Did you ever hear of the term unplugged, that’s when you hear a rock song that is normally played with an electric guitar played acoustically by the same person or band you hear on the radio. For me it really puts a whole different light on the subject and proves you should own an acoustic guitar along with an electric guitar.

Bass Guitar Addiction

Joe Miranda August 6, 2010

I guess you can say I am an addict. When I first starting to play bass guitar more than forty years ago I studied on the music stores acoustic guitar which I played like a bass. I had to deliver newspapers at 6:30 AM before school to pay for for my first bass guitar.

In the beginning owning just one bass guitar was enough for me but as time went on and my playing got better the addiction started to set in. I found myself staring at every other bass guitar I can in contact with, on TV whenever a band would be playing, at other bass players in the neighborhood whenever I would attend their practice.

I am presently 58 years old and I am glad to say I an not a recovering addict. I presently own 4 bass guitars, and I am proud to say have added 2 electric guitars and 3 acoustic guitars to my collection. Can someone please tell me what is wrong with me!

Acoustic Sense

Joe Miranda August 3, 2010

Some people might argue the fact of making available something called acoustic guitar packages. Their argument consists of the speculation why do you need an acoustic guitar package on an acoustic guitar that can be played without and amplifier.

My answer to this is that to me, it makes more sense to purchase a package than just an acoustic guitar. Having an amplifier gives this guitar more versatility, practicing is simple because of the fact you don’t have to plugged in to play like you would with an electric guitar, and likewise if you have a gig and need to be heard you need the assistance of an amplifier. An added benefit to owning an additional guitar amplifier is you can always use one as a pre-amp.

It’s A Nice Thing To Know

Joe Miranda August 2, 2010

Do you already know how to play guitar? If the answer is yes than, what do you play, electric guitar or acoustic guitar ? What type of music do you like to play?

I have played bass guitar for the better part of forty years, in a few of the bands I was in I also played rhythm guitar on a few songs. Now I’m not saying I am a good guitarist because I’m not, I’m just adequate however I am a good bass player. I guess the point I’m trying to make is it’s a good thing to be able to play bass guitars as well as electric guitars. It’s a good thing that when you are called upon you can change instruments. Look back at The Beatles, Paul McCartney started off playing rhythm guitar and when Rick Sutcliffe quit the band he was called on to play bass guitar, and a good thing for he was.

Get Off The Fence

Joe Miranda July 29, 2010

How many people are thinking of starting a musical career by playing the guitar? One of the things they are not sure of is what type of guitar to start off with.

My feelings about that is, acoustic guitar packages are just the thing to get you off the fence. Not only are these acoustic guitars a thing of beauty, they can be played with or without a guitar amplifier. The more bucks you have to pluck down on one of these guitars the better the finish will be, along with a better equalizer, not to mention the appliques. You will find exceptional appliques around the sound hole, and also take notice of the binding all around the guitar.

When you lump together a guitar accessories like, a guitar amplifier, guitar stand, gig bag, electronic tuner, guitar strap, guitar cable, guitar polish with cloths, along with your choice of acoustic guitar it makes your choice a no brain-er, acoustic guitar packages it is.
