Bass Guitar Packages

Joe Miranda December 25, 2009

guitarpackageWhether your playing an electric guitar or electric bass guitar there are certain accessories that are a must to have. The first and most important thing you need is an amplifier for an electric guitar or an amplifier for an electric bass guitar (there is a difference). Next unless you plan on walking around forever with your guitar attached to you, your going to need a stand. How about tuning, unless your one of those gifted people with perfect pitch that can tune a guitar by listening to it your going to need a tuner. Some of the newer digital tuners make tuning your guitar very easy.

Rather than waiting to find out after you get your electric or bass guitar home that you need the guitar accessories outlined above, why not look around for an electric guitar package or a bass guitar package that has everything you need already. One of the biggest advantages of buying one of these packages is that they are normally cheaper than buying each item seperately, even the guitar is cheaper in a package. A package will also have a gig bag and a few other things that are nice to have.

Great Frontmen Revisited

Joe Miranda December 23, 2009

bassBlack Sabbath not only had the great electric guitar of Tony Iommi, it also had an outstanding bass guitar player named Terry “Geezer” Butler who among other things is the first to add to his bass guitar package a Wah-wah pedal. The front man for this band is known as the “Godfather of Heavy Metal” or the “Prince of Darkness”, He is Ozzie Osbourne.

Next up is the flamboyant front-man for Van Halen David Lee Roth. His showmanship with Van Halen and in his solo career earn him honors amongst the great front-men. Along with the tradition of heavy metal bands Rolling Stone once wrote that he was “the most obnoxious singer in human history”. Although he had a decent baritone voice he was better known for the physical side of his performances.

Talk About Bass

Joe Miranda November 13, 2009

guitarpackage2I would like to take some time and talk about some of my favorite bass players, first one being Donald “Duck” Dunn. For those of you that might be saying who?, I’m talking about the bass guitar player from the movie The Blues Brothers.

Now your probably saying oh yeah I remember him, well there’s more to him than The Blues Brothers, his early career was with a band Booker T and the M.G.s. He later played with such greats as Otis Redding, and Sam & Daves’ “Hold On, I’m Comin”. He has played with the likes of Muddy Waters, Eric Clapton and Rod Stewart. He was the bass player on “Stop Draggin My Heart Around” a song by Stevie Nicks and Tom Petty.

In 1998 he along with Fender came up with a candy apple red Precision Bass using a 1950s style bass, it also featured a gold anodized pickguard. This later led to the Skyline Series bass guitar made by a company out of Lakland, Chicago.

P-Bass or J-Bass

Canvas Bass Guitar 20w Amp Package SunburstYou have decided that you don’t want to play guitar but would like to play the bass guitar and are not sure which style bass is right for you. Most basses are either a Precision Bass (P-Bass) or a Jazz Bass (J-Bass). This article will help explain them.

You will find more bassists playing a P-bass rather than a J-bass, although I prefer a J-bass. The P-bass has a much thicker neck than that of a J-bass which is much more slender, (that is the quality I like). The J-bass has two pickups one towards the neck and one at the bridge, the pickup at the bridge is treble while the bridge at the neck is bass, the P-bass usually has a single split pickup. The two pickups of the J-bass give you different tones to choose from depending on the way you adjust them. The body styles are also different with the J-bass being off set.

No matter which one you choose bass is a fun instrument to play. If you are a first time bass player or even intermediate you might want to check out the bass guitar packages that are available.

electric-bass-guitar-package-10w-ampIf you are considering buying a bass guitar you might want to look into a bass guitar package. If you want more bang for your dollars spent bass guitar packages will give you everything you need as a beginner or intermediate player, they might even include some things you would not have thought of.

Electric bass Guitar packages include your bass guitar, in a style you prefer, a guitar cable, strap, and allen keys to make neck adjustments in the future should it be necessary. A package will also contain a guitar stand, gig bag, guitar tuner, and extras like guitar polish and guitar rags. Oh yeah, I almost forgot a 10 watt amplifier, or possibly a 20 watt bass amplifier.

Cultural Shock

Joe Miranda October 14, 2009

The BeatlesThe Beatles continued popularity spans more than 40 years. Oct. 9th was one month since 14 remastrered albums of The Beatles were released. In that time there have been 5.5 million albums sold worldwide. The cultural geniuses back when the group had started said they were just a fad, and I say “Yeah a fad that lasted more than four decades.

In 1961 the bass guitar was taken over by Paul McCartney when Stuart Sutcliffe left the band. Lead guitar was played by George Harrison and on rhythm guitar was John Lennon. In 1962 Ringo Starr assumed playing the drums when Pete Best was let go by the group.

The Beatles were always leaders in creativity but never lost the ability to communicate their ideas to their audiences.
